This self-winding, rose gold Patek Philippe Ref 5960R-001 Annual Calendar Chronograph from 2011 comes as a full set and is guaranteed for authenticity. It has been discontinued by Patek Philippe and this example comes in mint condition.

The Patek Philippe 5960 has become known as the perfect everyday Patek due to its practicality in its design and complications. It has an annual calendar, meaning that it only has to be adjusted once a year in February, as it takes into account long and short months throughout the year. The day, date and month are located at the three apertures on top of the dial, making it very easy to read. This can be adjusted with the stylus that comes with the watch through the left side of the case, where there are three small, subtle pushers. Underneath the apertures, at 12 o’clock, there is a power reserve indicator, another useful complication.

Furthermore, the 5960 comes equipped with a flyback chronograph function, with all the information displayed at the 6 o’clock subdial which contains both the 60 minute counter on the outside, and the 12 hour counter on the inside for the chronograph function. The longer minute counter hand has a red pointer to distinguish it from the shorter hour hand. Within this sub-dial, there is a small circular aperture, serving as a day/night indicator. All in all, it is easy to see why the Patek Philippe 5960 is such a practical watch, through its many useful complications that are displayed very legibly on the dial.

The 18k rose gold case, sized at 40.5mm is modern, has a strong presence on the wrist, yet maintains its classical elegant styling. Featuring round pump pushers and fluid lugs, the case is typically Patek, with smooth lines and bevel free. The dial is a brushed silver, as are the applied rose gold index markers with luminous dots on the end. The matching leaf shaped, rose gold hands are also luminous filled.

Powered by the Caliber CH 28-520 IRM QA 24H, it is Patek Philippe’s first ever in-house automatic chronograph, originally launched in 2006. It is a vertical clutch chronograph movement, with an annual calendar module built on top, and has a uni-directional central rotor crafted of 21k gold.

This 5960R comes on its original brown alligator strap and a matching rose gold deployant buckle, featuring the Calatrava stamp. Interestingly, this is one of the very last Patek Philippe watches to bear the Geneva Seal, before the manufacture transitioned into the Patek Philippe seal.
