Center Seconds, Only Original Parts

We offer for sale this very rare and highly collectible Omega Constellation Date Certified Chronometer « Pie Pan » wristwatch manufactured in 1963.

The watch is 4 times signed Omega: Case, dial, movement and crown.

The legendary case in stainless steel has never been repolished or rebrushed, so all the angles were preserved, this, with the other following features makes it a highly collectible watch. The facets on the lugs are sharply defined and the bezel is crisp and not rounded.

The very scarce and stunning rare black dial is in original condition and has not been refinished (repainted or redone). An even slight patination of the varnish renders it both butiful and unique. Black dials of this condition are uncommon and will become more so with the passing of time.

The crystal is genuine and has the etched laser symbol, it can't be seen in the enlarged picture.

The watch retains its original decagonal crown.

All parts of this splendid timepiece are original and made by Omega. The watch has just been serviced, all functions operates perfectly and comes with a 1 year warranty.

The genuine handmade leather band is new.

This eye catching and historical model 168.005 with caliber 561, was produced only for a short periond of time, between 1959 and 1965. The Omega Constellation 561 CertifiedChronometer was one of the finest watches of the 1960's and this makes it particularly collectible. It had a power reserve of 50 hours and was the chronometer grade version of the base calibre 550. It was a 24 jewel watch with a four arm ‘gluycdur’ (beryllium) balance, allowing the spring to maintain its strength, shape and anti-magnetic quality. Fine timekeeping was achieved through the micro-regulator.
The 500 series was designed by Marc Colombe under the direction Henri Gerber. The series has proven over time to be one of the most precise and indeed the most celebrated movement series in the history of the Omega company. The success of the series 500 owes much to its tremendous reliability and a number of ingenious improvements, amongst which are the selfwinding mechanism and the mobile balance spring stud holder: the latter an improvement invented by Jacques Ziegler.

Size guide for wristbands

1 | Lug width

The lug width is the width of the strap at the end that is attached to the watch. This is the interior distance between the two lugs (horn-like protrusions) on the watch casing. The strap will fit your watch only if the lug width of the watch is the same width as the strap.

2 | Buckle width

The buckle width is the width of the strap at the buckle end. If you want to keep your watch’s original buckle and replace only the strap, the width of the original buckle must be identical to the strap width. For watches with folding clasps, please choose a strap specially made for your particular clasp.

3 | Strap length

The strap length is the combined length of the short strap side 3A (without buckle) and the long strap side 3B. For metal straps, the length of the strap including the clasp is measured in the closed position.

4 | Strap thickness

Strap thickness is the height of the strap. Many leather straps thin out towards the buckle end, or “taper”. If you want to keep your watch’s original buckle and replace only the strap, the strap thickness must match the height of the original buckle. For watches with folding clasps, please choose a strap specially made for your particular clasp.
