Stunning 1967 Solid 18ct Gold Jaeger le Coultre Memovox Gents Vintage Watch
Founded in 1833, Jaeger Le Coultre have long been acknowledged as one of the premier watchmakers in terms of their extremely high quality movements, their effortlessly elegant design and innovation. They made the iconic Reverso in the 1930’s and followed this up with the wrist alarm Powermatic and the Memovox… The Memovox, especially the oversize version (36 mm’s excluding the 2 JLC crowns), is one of if not the most desireable Jaegers on the market.
This oversize Memovox case is in stunning condition with only the most minor signs of wear (very minor ding on the outside case back) – it also has the original Jaeger signed setting crowns – one for winding/time setting and one to set the alarm. The original 2 part slightly off-white pearlescent dial has been professionally refinished to the highest possible standards and is just magnificent. It has the applied gold (with black centre) hour batons with the Jaeger legend at the ’12’ position along with the original gold (with matching black centre) hands. Jaeger movements are amongst the highest quality in the world and this Jaeger signed automatic is in excellent condition and has just been fully serviced by our professional watchmaker. To complete this delicious piece we’ve added a new, very high quality, dark brown Hirsch and Sonning Vintage Watches alligator skin strap with a gold plated Hirsch buckle.
My asking price is below the value for a watch of this condition and rarity, particularly with the continual rise in value of vintage watches of this high quality. In view of the high grade Swiss movement, I will include a three month written guarantee on the movement, which is long enough for you to assess the working order. Also, I offer a full refund if you are not entirely happy, as long as the watch is returned within 14 days in the same condition with a trackable courier
The crisp, provenance polished solid 18ct gold screw back case is in excellent condition with only minor signs of wear. The chunky lugs and perfectly proportioned case frame the dial beautifully. The case measures 36 mm’s wide, excluding the super rare Jaeger signed crowns and 45mm’s, including the lugs. The outside caseback carries the case reference of ‘1185908 A’ and is signed ‘Memovox’. The inside case carries the Jaeger fir trees and has the appropriate hallmarks for solid 18ct gold along with the model number of 855.
The original Jaeger signed 2 part dial is finished in slightly off-white pearlescent and is classically Jaeger le Coultre. The applied gold with black centre hour batons and original gold (again with black centre) hands flow into the dial and the gleaming case – the Jaeger legend is positioned at the ’12’. The date and alarm set arrow complete the look perfectly. It is signed ‘Jaeger Le Coultre Automatic’ and ‘T Swiss Made T’.
Jaeger movements are recognised as one of the highest quality in watch making and were used by Patek Phillipe. This jewelled automatic movement has just been fully serviced by my professional watchmaker and is running beautifully. It is signed ‘Jaeger Le Coultre’, ‘Fab Suisse’ and ‘Swiss’. The movement number is ‘1895725’ dating it to 1967.
As mentioned, this watch sits on a new very high quality Hirsch and Sonning Vintage Watches dark brown alligator skin strap with a Hirsch gold plated buckle.
