IWC Da Vinci Perpetual Calendar - Kurt Klaus
Introducing a revolutionary benchmark in the watchmaking world, the IWC came up with the idea of Da Vinci model named after the painting genius Leonardo da Vinci. The classical quality of the IWC Da Vinci model was a pleasant gush of innovative air for the watch lovers. The Da Vinci timepiece collection was developed in the late 1960s with many technical innovations.
IWC Da Vinci made a gigantic leap incorporating the Beta 21 Quartz movement in the wrist watches. With the launch of the Haute Horlogerie: Da Vinci, the company introduced the first mechanical chronograph in 1985. It was laced with a perpetual calendar and also displayed the year in four digits.
Designed with a colored ceramic case, the IWC Da Vinci gifted the world with a highly advanced case of its kind in 1986. In 2007, the celebrated history of Da Vinci lineage was accomplished with a unique looking tounneau-shaped case. The designing of the case was a painstaking effort of many years’ research and hard work housing all the Da Vinci models.
Housed with one of the most complex and interesting case, the Da Vinci collection adores the timepieces with accurate precision and stunning engineering. With a square shaped case, the Da Vinci Chronograph echoes the reminiscences of original 1969 models.
Revamping with designs, the glimpses of the innovation can be seen in the dial size and other technical details. With the huge case sizes varying between 45 mm to 51 mm, the Da Vinci Chronograph collections have been fashioned with eye catching designs. Following the contemporary patterns, the timepiece projects a perfect semblance of modernity.
Covered with a sapphire crystal with anti reflective treatment, the functions of the in house chronograph movement can be exhibited with a small window placed at the caseback.
The present IWC Da Vinci design has undergone a transition replacing the earlier Valjoux movement with the lately developed 89360 calibre chronograph movement. Powered with the flyback chronograph mechanism, the in house movement houses a power reserve of 68 hours. There are some of the distinctive features in 89360 Chronograph which makes it differ from the other chronographs movements.
The Da Vinci Chronograph is furnished with two subdial faces: one projecting the running seconds while the other subdial displaying the minute and the hour hands jointly. The exquisite finishing of the dial is further beautified with the detailed hour markings and the two subdials.
