The present Doxa men’s wristwatch was manufactured in Switzerland around 1960. It has a manual wind movement and displays the hour, minute and second and date. The cream-colored dial has silver hands. The case is made of stainless steel. The brown leather strap is fitted with a pin buckle.
The wristwatch is in good condition with only small traces of age and wear. The dial is slightly speckled at the outer edge. The case diameter is 35 mm and the height is 8 mm. The strap length is 20 cm and the lugs measure 18 mm. The total weight is 37 grams. During a short-term test, the watch was fully functional, but long-term precision and regularity cannot be guaranteed.
The Swiss watch maker Doxa was founded in 1889 by George Ducommun. It became internationally known in 1967 when they launched their first diver’s watch. The SUB designed by Urs Eschle was patented in the USA in 1968; the SUB 300T was used by the Navy. The dial has been designed in orange to make reading under water easier. Next to diver’s watches, Doxa produces mainly sports watches and only a few luxury watches. (cbo)
