Technically speaking, this watch is one of the most awesome watches we have seen this year. It is a large watch at 48mm but relatively light thanks to the mostly titanium case. The pushers have a very clever locking system with small bolts that can be slid under each pusher to save accidental operation. But the main feature of this piece is the complication. The chronograph is a rattrapante, a function which allows for split time recording by the clever use of a seconds hand hidden beneath the main chrono seconds hand - both hands are synchronised until a button on the crown is pressed which stops the hidden hand, a second press and the hand automatically catches up with the main hand. Additionally (and very unusually) there is the ability to record 1/8th of second increments by a jumping seconds hand that really needs to be seen in action. No wonder retail price on this piece was USD22,000 (over AU$30,000).Not only is this a spectacular looking piece but it is also a piece of horological history. Spectacular.
