Description

This excellent Breitling Navitimer 806 was produced in 1965 and the dial seems to be heavily patinated. The rigueurs of wear and tear are apparent to see on the case and dial, the watch has been expertly serviced - the functions of the watch, the chronograph and the patented Breitling tachymeter scale and slide rule are all in superb working condition. Due to the fact that there are several areas of wear, the watch has received a fine rating. It is presented as you see it, and although one can re-clean the case out, the goldfilled nature of the case means that it is indeed not recommended to over-polish it, so leaving it as it is, is desirable.
One of the world famous calibers, the VENUS 178 is an iconic and super reliable watch movements, the chronograph is robust, and you could say it will last a few more decades ! All the functions are in good working condition, and the movement is performing well within acceptable norms. The case pushers are in pretty worn condition, the caps which are gold filled have got the nickel showing through underneath. The crown is very clean.
Dial condition to note as you see in the pictures, several areas of the dial are worn well, and the patina on the dial looks like cream colored..
Overall it still is a 6/10 and I think that the TWINJET patina dial is actually desirable to be worn on a 22 mm NATO band, it should look extremely cool. Please bear in mind that this watch is mostly not resistant at all, and the slide rule area where the bezel rotates is known for water seepage, so it has to be worn completely dry.

Size guide for wristbands

1 | Lug width

The lug width is the width of the strap at the end that is attached to the watch. This is the interior distance between the two lugs (horn-like protrusions) on the watch casing. The strap will fit your watch only if the lug width of the watch is the same width as the strap.

2 | Buckle width

The buckle width is the width of the strap at the buckle end. If you want to keep your watch’s original buckle and replace only the strap, the width of the original buckle must be identical to the strap width. For watches with folding clasps, please choose a strap specially made for your particular clasp.

3 | Strap length

The strap length is the combined length of the short strap side 3A (without buckle) and the long strap side 3B. For metal straps, the length of the strap including the clasp is measured in the closed position.

4 | Strap thickness

Strap thickness is the height of the strap. Many leather straps thin out towards the buckle end, or “taper”. If you want to keep your watch’s original buckle and replace only the strap, the strap thickness must match the height of the original buckle. For watches with folding clasps, please choose a strap specially made for your particular clasp.
