Breitling Cosmonaute
Designed especially for the aviation industry, Breitling Navitimer is the world’s oldest chronograph developed by Breitling in the year 1952. It was the first wrist watch developed for the pilots with an in built navigation computer technology. The timepiece was credited to be the prestigious official watch of AOPA (Aircrafts Owners and Pilots Association).
With over 50 years in the watch industry, the Breitling Navitimer has maintained a subsistent status of class apart functions. There have been slight changes between the 806 model launched in 1952 to the models designed till date.
The 24 hour time period was incorporated in the Breitling Navitimer after the suggestion made by the astronaut Scott Carpenter who was one of the astronauts in the Mercury Space Program mission. The 24 hour Navitimer became a part of the space flight in 1962. A series of the 24 Hour version was launched by Breitling which was later given the name of Cosmonaute Navitimer.
The high functionality of the Navitimer selection has placed it in the elite circle of high end, contemporary and seamless timepieces over the years. The various watches in the Breitling Navitimer selection have marked a special position in the timepieces of the 20th century. The Navitimer has undergone a transition over the passage of time with the designs and technical innovations done in the watches.
The Navitimer World exemplifies the perfection of Breitling unfolding new dimensions in the watchmaking industry. It claims to be one of the biggest Navitimer being 10% bigger in size than the original version of the Navitimer watches.
The other distinguishing feature of the Navitimer World making it stand apart from the other timepieces is the feature of displaying time in the second time zone. Powered by Calibre 24, the accuracy and readability in the time is achieved while the hands display the time of any corner across the globe with the 24 hour feature.
Following the Navitimer tradition, the Navitimer World is also equipped with a circular slide rule carrying the essences of its universal appeal. The timepiece is also imprinted with the engravings of the timezones of world’s big cities.
The other benchmark timepiece in the Navitimer collection is the Navitimer Cosmonaute initially designed for the space program. Laced with a Flyback mechanism, the feature allows the 24 hour timing function without restarting the chronograph back from zero.
The Breitling Navitimer holds the eminent position of being the world’s oldest chronograph enjoying a cult status in the horology world.
