The Regatta complication has been designed by AP to follow the real-life rules of the race. At the first gun-shot signal, which is 11 minutes before the start of the race, the stopwatch is triggered by means of pushing the top button, the large central seconds hands starts. After a minute, which is 10 minutes before the start of the race, the second gun-shot is sounded, at that point the Flyback complication is activated by pushing the bottom button, which resets & immediately restarts the main chronograph. Simultaneously the regatta window displays the figure 10. With 5 minutes left to the countdown a third-gunshot is sounded - both the countdown & the minute counter (sub-dial at the 9 o'clock position) show 5 minutes. At one minute to the start, the countdown aperture shows the figure 1 against a background that has gradually become entirely red. Finally, when the start signal is given at which time both the count-down & minute counter sub-dial point to 10.
