This is an exceptional example of an iconic Art Deco miniature boudoir Cartier clock in solid gold, onyx, platinum, diamond & enamel, French hallmarked and signed . It is an original Cartier Shutter Clock design from the early 1900s with a tremendous amount of craftsmanship applied to both the outer case and Dial. The outside case is beveled and steepled on black onyx. There are no signs of wear to the outside of the case which is extremely unusual given its age and the softness level of onyx. No chips to the base or onyx top and the condition of the gold hobnailed case and case doors is immaculate. There are no signs of corrosion or discoloration throughout and all stones are present on the platinum diamond set chinoiserie shaped door hinge as well.

The opening of the doors reveal a gorgeous signed original Dial, signed Cartier on a guillioche sun burst enamel white background that is textured and heavily detailed and fully preserved in original condition. There are no signs of enamel loss to the center dial and the doors are tightly connected to the base at the hinges indicating that they have been very carefully preserved and safely stored away.
They are in excellent condition with no enamel loss to the outside door and all Roman numerals are in excellent original condition.

The hallmarks are extremely sharp and are easily seen by the naked eye. The screw on the base is also numbered as it should be.

The clock is everything a collector seeking a trophy piece would want. It is fully signed fully Hall marked , in solid gold and an original iconic design that Cartier produced and in perfect working and untouched condition.

A Similar piece is illustrated in Baracca, J., Negretti, G. & Nencini, F., Le Temps de Cartier, p.177. And also The book Cartier in the 20th Century.
