You know what I have concluded? Lange & Sohne watches are perfect. Take this Langematik Perpetual Calendar for example: its dial has a very clean design, free of superfluous design elements or needless complications, its case lines are precise and the proportions generous, and the movement is just exquisite. Lange & Sohne's master watchmakers have literally hand assembled, hand finished, hand decorated and hand regulated this caliber.
Whereas the dial and case are unadulterated by any form of excess, the movement is a work of art. The balance cock is hand engraved/decorated, while the many movement plates feature contrasting finishes. The mini-rotor is 21k gold with platinum segment for increased mass, and handsomely engraved. Like I said, this watch is perfect.
The case is 18k, with alternating mirror and brushed finished surfaces, with dimensions of 38.5mm diameter by 10mm thick. Sapphire crystals in front and on the caseback for viewing the gorgeous Lange Caliber L 922.1 SAX - O - MAT.
The automatic winding caliber features a micro-rotor, 43 jewels, hand embellishment and hand regulation. The movement also makes use of Lange's proprietary SAX - O - MAT technology: when the crown is pulled out to set the time, the seconds hand snaps to the 12 o'clock position.
Dial is made from solid silver and is very light champagne in color, with applied gold roman numerals. At the 3 o'clock position is the month display with a mini-dial indicating leap years; at the 6 o'clock position is the seconds hand and moonphase display; at the 9 o'clock position is the day and 24 hours indicator and the oversized date is prominently displayed under the "XII". Once again, the dial is a model of form following function: there is nothing extra here, just the information you need on a perpetual calendar.
Unlike the vast majority of Langematik perpetuals, this watch is on its original 18k bracelet (instead of a strap) with uniquely shaped links and invisible closing clasp. Bracelet is full-length and will fit up to an 8 inch wrist.
